Working remotely isn’t just about freedom — it takes commitment. And finding that sweet spot between work and play? That takes real discipline.
My time in Kununurra has been the perfect example of what that balance can look like when it all comes together. Mornings were dedicated to staying on top of business — supporting clients through private consultancy work and preparing for the upcoming Safe and Together™ Core training in Alice Springs. Then by mid-afternoon… it was time to switch gears and head out — chasing waterfalls, sunsets, and the elusive barramundi.
One of the unexpected highlights? Being contacted by Ngaarda Media, who came across my TikTok and wanted to hear more about this journey of working and travelling on the road. Opportunities like that remind me how powerful it is to share the story.
And let’s be honest — balance is a lot easier when you’ve got a good travel partner. While I worked, Drew was busy doing the important research (Google and YouTube deep dives!). So when I’d wrap up for the day, it was as simple as: “What are we doing today?” …and off we’d go on another adventure.
Another special part of this trip has been reconnecting with students — past and present — even out here in Kununurra. Catching up over morning tea and hearing firsthand how the micro-credential is making a difference in their work in remote communities was a proud moment. It’s those real stories and word-of-mouth connections that continue to grow this learning space in the Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence sector.
