Chapter 1 - Boomerang on the Road & FDSV

As a consultant, I’ve been working remotely for six years, but this week pushed me in ways I didn’t quite expect. Balancing my workload while packing, unpacking, and reorganising the vehicle to make it road-ready was a challenge I felt in every corner of my body. With demands pressing in from all sides and unexpected setbacks popping up just as I thought I was on track, I think I cycled through every emotion possible. By mid-week, the overwhelm caught up with me and the tears arrived — but so did the reminder that I can, and must, keep moving forward.

Despite the chaos, my work remained full and meaningful. The week was a blend of online meetings, consultations, Communities of Practice, mentoring sessions, and web-page design — all from my mobile setup. Among all this, the highlight was something far more personal: I had the privilege of filming and collecting the stories of some incredibly strong women. It was my first real experience interviewing people on camera, and it moved me more deeply than I expected.

I realised quickly that capturing someone’s story isn’t just pressing “record.” It’s creating safety. Holding space. Listening with intention. And in one quiet moment during filming, something clicked, a feeling of absolute alignment, like I had stepped into my purpose. I felt at home in my own body, anchored in the certainty that storytelling is part of who I am.

Of course, the universe also delivered a humbling lesson or two. While recording a shout-out for one of my sponsors, a sudden gust of wind toppled my tripod and shattered my phone screen. Not ideal, but part of the journey.

This week taught me more than I expected:
Slow down.
Breathe.
Listen to your body.
Don’t overcommit.
Be prepared.
Say yes to lunch with colleagues.
And above all — trust the process.
