Chapter 2 - 09.03.2026

At the beginning of the week, I set up at a shared office space in Carnarvon to catch up on some much-needed work and facilitate an online consultation. It was a quiet start, but it didn’t stay that way for long. As the week unfolded, I was reminded just how vibrant and connected this community is. Carnarvon was buzzing with energy—people moving, creating, supporting one another, and doing some truly incredible work across the town. 🌿

One of the highlights of my visit was spending time with men in the community, sitting down together and collecting stories. These conversations were powerful and honest. We yarned about what a safe, strong, and healthy family and community looks like from their perspective. The reflections shared were thoughtful and heartfelt, and it was clear how deeply many of these men care about their families, their roles, and the future of their community.

We also talked about the messaging behind the “Stamping It Out” campaign and explored how those messages might resonate with men, families, and the broader community. Hearing local voices speak about these ideas—what works, what doesn’t, and what could make a difference—was incredibly valuable. These insights will help shape how conversations about safety, strength, and respect continue moving forward. 💬

Throughout the week I also visited several organisations around town, taking time to yarn with staff about the work they’re doing and the impact they’re making in the community. The passion and commitment I witnessed were inspiring. There is so much important work happening here, often quietly and without fanfare, but making a real difference in people’s lives.

Another very special moment was being invited to speak at the International Women’s Day gathering held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Gwoonwardu Mia Cultural Centre. It was an absolute honour to stand alongside incredible women—young and old—from my hometown. Celebrating this day together was powerful, emotional, and deeply meaningful. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share space with such inspiring women, celebrate our journeys, and help elevate the voices of women in our communities. Together, we continue to uplift, empower, and support one another. ✨

If anyone in Carnarvon would still like to share their story with me now that I’ve left town, please don’t hesitate to reach out here. Every story matters, and every voice deserves to be heard.

This week grounded me in a way I didn’t expect. Usually I’m the one holding space for others—but this time, my hometown and the people in it held space for me. That feeling was something truly special, and one I’ll carry with me for a long time.

Thank you to all my Carnarvon peeps. ❤️
